Doc Heads Film of the Week: Statesmen

Doc HeadsDoc Heads, the people behind the popular networking night for documentary filmmakers with the same name, have send their latest film of the week’ which we want to share with you.

This week it was up to Doc Heads co-founder Tistan Anderson to pick a winning doc. His choice is Statesmen.

The 25 minute short documentary describes itself as “a portrait of three American men and their relationship with the world around them.” Though this is no word of a lie, the discription doesn’t inform you of the beautiful cinematography and the fact that, as Anderson puts it: “the film dives into the lives of seemingly normal Americans who are in fact no way normal. They all have a unique story to tell that is engaging, funny, sad and beautiful all at the same time’

Tom Goudsmit directed the film and Adam Brichto is credited as the producer.

In Statesmen you will get to meet three men; Donny, who is a 60-year old paper boy; Mike, who makes his living fishing for crabs, and Don Mike who whiles away his time in a trailer shooting squirrels. All three come from very different backgrounds, three different states and seemingly have nothing in common. However, each narrative reveals embers of the old American dream still glowing in the modern American man.
