Submissions now open for Open City Docs Fest 2013

Open City Docs Fest is now open to receive your documentaries for their 2013 festival, which will take place in various venues in central London on 20-23 June.

With a mission to “programme the best and most diverse set of films from around the world here in London” the Open City Docs Fest team is inviting you to submit your documentary to screen at the 2013 festival. It will be the third time the festival is taking place in the capital.

Last year’s edition of Open City Docs Fest saw a diverse programme of over 130 films and 80 events being spread out over 18 different locations. Audience figures were doubled compared to the year before with 5100 attending, demonstrating, according to the organisation, “a large appetite for documentary film, discussions and special events in London”.

The award categories for 2013 are: the Grand Jury Award, Best Emerging UK Director, Best Emerging International Director, Best Short Film, Best City Film, Best MyStreet Film, and new thematic awards for Best Science Film and Best Sociopolitical Film.

Kim Longinotto and Molly Dineen have already been confirmed to sit on the festival’s jury.

Deadlines are:

Monday 17 Dec 2012 – Early Bird

Monday 28 Jan 2013 – Regular

Monday 4 March 2013 – Late

Last year the festival screened top documentaries such as Project Nim, High Tech Low Life and Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present and premiered Emad Burnat’s film 5 Broken Cameras, which is currently enjoying a three week run in London cinemas.
