The Smalls announce documentary award winner

During their seventh annual awards ceremony in Covent Garden, the organisers of The Smalls announced Oil & Water by Fat Rat Films as the winner of the The Smalls Film Festival documentary award 2012.

The lucky winners will receive a £1,000 cash prize from The Smalls and a £10,000 production grant to put towards their next film.

Over the last seven years the short film festival has grown from a two day event with mere screenings to a 5-day extravaganza of film screenings, panel discussions and master classes.

Hundreds of films were submitted to compete in the four awards categories of Comedy, Drama, Documentary, and Music Video and it was a hard job picking a short list, let alone a winner, said the festival’s organisers.

The judging panel for the documentary section this year included: Anna MacDonald, Director, LFA Productions; Philip Ilson, LSFF, Festival Director; Derek Thorne, One World Media; Joe Bateman, Director, Rushes Soho Shorts; Richard Holman, Founder, Devilfish and Jane Mote, Former MD, Current TV.
