Trailer and Poster for The Queen of Versailles

Sundance certainly delivered the goods this year, with Searching for Sugar Man still in the cinemas we already have another hit to look forward to; Lauren Greenfield’s The Queen of Versailles.  Documentary distributor Dogwoof has announced it will release the film in the UK on 7 September. Here’s what you can expect.

Meet Jackie and David Seigel and their seven children; Jackie is a former beauty queen and David is the billionaire “Time-Share King” of the world, and they are building their dream home – the USA’s largest single domestic home – modelled on the Versailles palace in France (for real). And then the economic crisis hits.

The Queen of Versailles is their story and how, in the face of the worst economic crisis in 100 years, Jackie, David, their children, maids, dogs, employees and business associates struggle to keep the time-share business afloat and finish their dream-home Versailles, in Florida. The result of Greenfield’s efforts is a hillarious and eye-opening riches to rags story like you’ve never seen before. We can’t wait!
