Film beauty in a second

Wim Wenders at the Berlin Film Festival 2011Filmmaker Wim Wenders, who’s documentary Pina is currently shortlisted for an Academy Award, teamed up with Montblanc for the ultimate challenge, one in which every second counts; even so much that it is only the second that counts.

Seize the moment, they say. Show us beauty in the space of a second.

To celebrate the 190th anniversary of the chronograph’s invention by Nicolas Rieussec, Montblanc and Wim Wenders are announcing a great project in which you are asked to submit a second of film showing true beauty.

How you do it is up to you, with your iPhone camera or with a professional one – it is the image that counts.

The full project, The Beauty of a Second, consists of three rounds. The deadline for the third and final round ends 13 December so don’t waste any time (yes, that is a bad pun indeed…).

Here is Wim Wender’s message to you:

From every round twenty seconds will be chosen and the final seconds will be used to create amazing clips, such as this one:

The person who creates the manages to capture the most beautiful second will be going to the Berlinale in February. So, get your camera out and film what you consider to be beautiful.
