Elmo leaves Sesame Street for the big screen
Stop the press!! I just found this documentary about Elmo and I need to share this with you. I personally loved Sesame Street when I was a child and could never go to bed without having seen it. I know in the UK the fascination with the programme is not as big as in some other countries but you’ve got to see this.
As you can tell, to me, as well as the film makers, Elmo is an international icon. However, few people know his creator, Kevin Clash, who dreamed of working with his idol, master puppeteer Jim Henson.
At a young age, Kevin’s talent seeped through and he ultimately found a home on Sesame Street.
Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, this documentary includes rare archival footage, interviews with Frank Oz, Rosie O’Donnell, Cheryl Henson and others and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Sesame Street and the original one and only Jim Henson workshop.

It’s heartbreaking that at the moment Being Elmo is only shown in the US, however, keep looking at the Being Elmo website to see if the documentary makers decide to cross the ocean – fingers crossed!
